Phonsongkham fired the visitors in front with her third goal of the season before the Mariners hit back just after the hour-mark when Peta Trimis scored direct from a corner.
Glory were unable to capitalise upon some decent chances to claim the win in the latter stages, but the draw was still enough to propel Stephen Peters’ side back into the top six.
Amidst unseasonably damp and overcast conditions in Gosford, it was the hosts who made the stronger start and created the better of the chances throughout the opening half-hour.
The competition’s leading scorer, Annalise Rasmussen, was a constant threat and would have opened the scoring inside ten minutes had Glory ‘keeper Teresa Morrissey not produced a fine save to thwart her in a one-on-one situation.
Rasmussen then flicked a cross from Lorena Baumann just over the bar before Morrissey was again called into action, this time to block an effort from Jynaya Dos Santos.
Up until this point, Glory had been restricted to a couple of speculative, long-range strikes but that all changed when Phonsongkham took centre stage with 34 minutes on the clock.
Bronte Trew showed great tenacity to dispossess Baumann on the right flank before delivering a left-foot cross and as the Mariners defence struggled to clear their lines, the loose ball fell for Phonsongkham who crashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
Glory looked decidedly more assured and controlled in possession after the break and yet it was the Mariners who found the game’s next goal.
Trimis’ corner from the right somehow managed to evade everyone in the box, including Morrissey who may have been impeded by Taren King and found its way into the net.
That equaliser set up a frenetic final quarter in which both sides went all out for the win.
Sarah O’Donoghue fired just wide for Glory before teeing up substitute Rola Badwiya who blazed over when well placed, while at the other end, Rasmussen and Izabel Gomez both wasted opportunities to seal it for the home side.
The draw, their first of the season, sees Glory move up to fifth place on the ladder ahead of back-to-back home games against Melbourne City and Sydney FC.
