Stephen Peters’ side made the best possible start to their search for a first win of the season, with Cassidy pouncing upon a defensive error to fire them in front inside the opening sixty seconds.

And although Josie Allan soon had the Jets level, O’Donoghue and Brown both found the net early in the second half to put Glory 3-1 up.

Moments after Brown’s goal, the visitors lost goalkeeper Danielle Krzyzaniak to a straight red card for handling the ball way outside the box and although they did manage to pull one back in stoppage-time courtesy of Sheridan Gallagher’s long-range strike, the women in purple were not to be denied a well-deserved victory.

Many Members and fans were still finding their seats when Glory took the lead, Cassidy picking Libby Copus-Brown’s pocket just outside the box and calmly steering a shot past the helpless Krzyzaniak.

To their credit, the Jets responded well to that early setback and restored parity 12 minutes later when Josie Allan rocketed a long-range effort into the top corner.

But Glory continued to look a major threat going forward, with Gabby Hollar, Izzy Dalton and Grace Johnston all denied by Krzyzaniak before O’Donoghue eventually restored their lead early in the second half.

Dalton’s shot was blocked by a defender, but the ball squirmed its way into the path of O’Donoghue and she finished emphatically from just inside the box.

The former Brisbane Roar midfielder then played a key role in Glory’s third goal, charging down Krzyzaniak’s attempted clearance which allowed the effervescent Brown to gain possession and chip home.

Krzyzaniak’s afternoon continued to go downhill as she was duly dismissed for deliberate handball some 40 metres out from goal and Glory rarely looked like being reeled in from that point onwards, even when Gallagher reduced the arrears right at the death.
