Both goals came in the first-half of the Round 19 clash, Chris Long firing the home side in front from a well-worked free-kick before Youstin Salas diverted a Luca Tevere cross into his own net to make it 1-1.
Former Glory forward Nick D’Agostino went on to head against the bar later in the opening period, with Michael Ruhs and Marius Lode also going close for Roar, while Stefan Colakovski was unable to convert a couple of decent second-half chances for the visitors.
What developed into a lively and bruising first half began with Samuel Klein wasting a great early chance for the hosts as he headed wide from point-blank range having been picked out by Salas.
But Roar continued to pour forward in the early stages and were rewarded 16 minutes in when the returning Jay O’Shea rolled a free-kick into the path of Long and he fizzed a low shot past Matt Sutton.
To their credit, Glory could hardly have reacted any better to that set-back, restoring parity within three minutes as Tevere’s teasing cross was diverted over the line by Salas under severe pressure from Nicholas Pennington.
Noah Maieroni and Gio De Abreu were then booked in quick succession as the challenges continued to fly in before Sutton was forced to parry an angled strike from substitute Ruhs and D’Agostino nodded an O’Shea free-kick against the woodwork from right in front.
And the goalmouth action of a frenetic first-half continued right into stoppage-time as Colakovski, making his first start of the season, placed a shot wide after the Roar defence had only half-cleared a corner.
Despite the humidity, the tempo of the game remained high after the restart, with Brisbane having a penalty appeal against Pennington waved away before Colakovski saw his effort at the other end blocked by Ruhs.
Midway through the second half, Glory enjoyed their best spell of the game, Tevere almost scoring direct from a corner and Colakovski racing in on goal but opting to pass rather than shoot and seeing his ball inside cleared away.
Having survived that spell of pressure, Michael Valkanis’ side responded by creating several chances for Ruhs, who was unable to finish and it was all hands to the pump for Glory in the final moments as Roar launched a late charge.
Sutton was called into action to block a close-range effort from James McGarry and the Glory ‘keeper then effectively clinched a share of the spoils for his side when he clawed away a Lode header five minutes into stoppage-time.
