In sweltering conditions, Adam Griffiths’ men were much the better side in the opening 45 minutes, with Adam Taggart, Tom Lawrence and Nicholas Pennington all going close to breaking the deadlock.
But Wanderers rallied after the break, striking the woodwork twice before Fraser eventually struck right at the death to deny the visitors the point that their overall performance warranted.
The result leaves Glory five points outside the top six ahead of next Saturday’s home date with Auckland FC.
While Western Sydney did threaten regularly on the counter throughout the opening period, it was Glory who created the clearcut chances and could have gone into the break a couple of goals to the good.
The first of those opportunities fell the way of Taggart, the skipper seeing his shot strike the chest of home ‘keeper Lawrence Thomas after Tom Lawrence had swept an inviting ball across the middle of the penalty area.
Lawrence then went close himself as Thomas scrambled to paw away his free-kick after the Wanderers defence had set up in anticipation of Sam Sutton taking responsibility for the set-piece delivery.
And three minutes before the break, Thomas produced his best save of a busy half, this time reacting smartly to parry a volley from Nicholas Pennington who had done well to reach a Taggart cross at full stretch.
Wanderers looked altogether more purposeful after the restart and from the hour-mark on, started to put Glory under some concerted pressure for the first time in the contest.
Sutton was called upon to block a Bozhidar Kraev cross-shot with an outstretched leg before foiling Fraser and parrying a swerving effort from Phillip Cancar in quick succession.
Another of the home substitutes, Awan Lual, then crossed for Kraev whose shot struck the near post and moments later, Wanderers had a penalty appeal against Brian Kaltak rightly dismissed by VAR.
That reprieve proved only temporary for Glory as Lual crashed a shot from inside the six-yard box against the crossbar and the overworked Sutton had to go full length to claw away a curling shot from Fraser.
The Scottish international was not to be denied, however, as from the resulting corner, he returned Sutton’s punch with interest by firing low into the net to seal victory for the hosts.
