Saturday’s heavy rain may have led to the postponement of the PGFC Academy’s First Team scheduled home game against Perth RedStar FC, but it could not prevent the Under-20s from sealing the title with a 1-0 win over the same opponents.
Danny Douglas scored the all-important goal five minutes before the break to seal a remarkable 16th win in 17 games for the youngsters and enable them to emulate the Under-18s who clinched top spot in their respective competition last weekend.
There was no let-up from the younger age group in Saturday’s opening game, Corey Sutherland claiming a hat-trick and skipper GJ Prinsloo also finding the net in a resounding 4-0 victory.
An early afternoon deluge, meanwhile, denied the First Team the opportunity to complete a Glory clean sweep as the Crazy Domains Stadium pitch was deemed waterlogged and unsafe.
Kenny Lowe’s side will instead face his former club on Monday 15 August at the same venue, with a kick-off time of 7.30pm.
