On what was another memorable weekend for the PGFC Academy, the Under-18s and Under-20s both progressed to the NPL WA Top Four Cup Final, while the Under-15s secured an historic double.
With their respective league titles already wrapped up, the Under-18s and Under-20s both faced Perth SC at E&D Litis Stadium looking to book a place in next Saturday’s Top Four Cup Final and duly did so in style.
Daniel Adesina struck twice and Corey Sutherland and Jonathon Leithead also found the net as Will Cruz’s younger age group recorded a 4-2 victory.
And Ivan Zuvela’s 20s emulated that feat as first-half goals from Christian Belladonna, Daniel Bennie and Joel Anasmo eased them home 3-1.
There was more success for the Glory youngsters on Sunday when the Under-15s followed up last month’s Junior Cup Final triumph by becoming the first side in the Academy’s history to also secure the league title in the same season.
Keanu Gomes and Lucas Mura were both on target in the first half of a 2-1 victory away at South West Phoenix which meant the 15s were crowned champions with two games to spare.
The Under-18s and Under-20s will return to action on Saturday in their respective Top Four Cup Finals which are taking place at Dorrien Gardens.
It’s a 10.00am start for the 18s and 2.30pm for the 20s – do get along and support the lads if you can.
