Academy Wrap: Cup glory for 14s and 15s, NPL wins for 18s and Firsts

Saturday proved to be a day to remember for the PGFC Academy as the Under-14s and Under-15s both enjoyed Junior Cup success, while the Under-18s and First Team secured emphatic NPL WA victories.

The first action of the day saw the Under-13s edged out 1-0 by Balcatta Etna at Grindleford Reserve in their Cup Final clash, but the Under-14s duly claimed some silverware, Martin Dickerson (2) and Anthony Vrebac grabbing the goals in a 3-0 win over Perth SC.

And that feat was matched by the Under-15s, with Alexander Garbowski scoring what proved to be the winner against Joondalup City five minutes after the break.

Dalmatinac Park was the venue for the senior teams’ games on Saturday afternoon and the Under-18s got the ball rolling in a style, Noah Ieraci (2), Daniel Adesina and Royie Rahamim on target in a resounding 4-0 win over hosts Cockburn City.

The Under-20s were then held to a 0-0 draw before the First Team chalked up a fourth win for the Academy on the day as they downed the Cockerels 4-1.

Ciaran Bramwell earned and then scored a fourth-minute penalty to get Kenny Lowe’s side off to the perfect start and although Daniel Dols soon headed the hosts level, the youngsters restored their lead just after the half-hour mark when Lucas Cook found the net direct from a corner.

Another set-piece ensured that Glory would take a 3-1 lead into the break, this time Daniel Santich inadvertently deflecting Jayden Leader’s free-kick into the far corner of the net.

And the win was iced shortly after the restart when Daniel Bennie was tripped in the box by Jeff Bright and Bramwell again made no mistake from the spot.

All three senior sides will round off their regular NPL WA campaigns against relegation-threatened Gwleup Croatia at Crazy Domains Stadium at Hartfield Park on Saturday.

The Under-18s and Under-20s will both be presented with their respective league title trophies after their games which start at 11am and 1pm ahead of the First Team fixture at 3pm.

Do get along and support the lads if you can.
