Academy U18s and U20s cap stellar seasons with Top Four Cup triumphs

The PGFC Academy Under-18s and Under-20s capped off stellar 2023 campaigns by winning their respective Top Four Cup Finals in style at the State Football Centre on Saturday.

The younger age group, having already claimed the league title, downed an impressive Sorrento FC side 5-3 in a thrilling game which got Finals day off to a perfect start.

Will Cruz’s charges found themselves trailing 2-0 inside the opening four minutes, but roared back to lead 4-2 at the break courtesy of goals from Louis Sollitt (2), Santiago Flores and Alex Bolton.

The second-half was an equally competitive if slightly calmer affair, with Flores grabbing his second and Glory’s fifth to seal the victory.

The Under-20s then took to the field in the afternoon seeking to secure a third trophy to add to the league title and State Reserves Cup and they did so in emphatic fashion with an 8-1 win over Bayswater City.

The team nature of their success, which has been evident all season, was again emphasised by the fact that there were eight individual scorers on the day, namely Gert Prinsloo, Khoa Ngo, Tadiwanashe Kuzamba, Sebastian Despotovski, Royie Rahamim, Louis Hewings, Abdulla Dofash and Daniel Adesina (pen).

Many thanks to the players, coaches, parents and supporters who all played their part in what was a fantastic season for both age groups!
