The PGFC Academy First Team battled back from 1-0 and 3-1 down before eventually being edged out 4-3 by Inglewood United in a thrilling NPL WA clash on Saturday.
United hit the front inside the opening six minutes at Inglewood Stadium as Alex Ishida-Livings bundled home from a corner, but Glory were soon level, Daniel Bennie getting in behind the home defence and calmly lobbing the onrushing goalkeeper.
Renee Kisesa duly restored Inglewood’s lead shortly after the half-hour mark, converting on the rebound after Michael Domfeh’s initial effort had been parried by Robert Cook and 2-1 became 3-1 on the cusp of half-time when Dylan White picked out the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Again Glory responded quickly, however, Jayden Gorman captialising upon the home defence’s inability to clear a Bennie cross to reduce the arrears in first-half stoppage-time.
The goal-rush was then put on hold until 13 minutes from time when GJ Prinsloo made it 3-3 to set up a frantic finale and Inglewood ultimately had the final word as ex-PGFC Academy forward Domfeh bagged what proved to be the winner from close-range.
The result leaves the First Team in seventh spot in the table, but only three points behind current leaders, Perth SC.
In the day’s other games, the PGFC Academy Under-18s made it five wins from five as they cruised home 7-1, while the Under-20s fought out a 1-1 draw.
All three senior teams return to NPL WA action a week on Saturday (29th April), when Cockburn City will provide the opposition at Lark Hill.
The Under-18s will kick-off at 11am, followed by the Under-20s at 1pm and the First Team at 3pm.
