The PGFC Academy First Team concluded their 2023 NPL WA Night Series campaign with a third successive victory on Sunday evening, this time downing Cockburn City 5-3 at Inglewood Stadium.
John Walmsley’s side knew that victory was essential if they were to snag second spot in Group B, but they also needed Inglewood United to beat Olympic Kingsway later in the evening in order to pip the latter for a semi-final berth.
Instead, those two sides fought out a 1-1 draw which sent them both into the last four, bringing Glory’s involvement in the competition to an end in the process.
Nonetheless, having scored 14 goals in wins over Perth Red Star, Sorrento FC and Cockburn City, there were certainly plenty of positives to take into the new NPL WA season which gets underway next month.
Glory’s scorers on Sunday evening were Mitch Oxborrow, Jayden Gorman (2), Shade Stewart and Josh Anasmo.
The PGFC Academy First Team’s opening NPL WA 2023 Season fixture is against Balcatta Etna at Grindleford Reserve on Saturday 18 March (kick-off at 3pm).
Many thanks to all our Members and fans who supported the PGFC Academy First Team during the Night Series!
