The two previous meetings between the sides this term have produced just the one goal, namely Chris Ikonomidis’ effort that settled the Round 7 clash at HBF Park in Glory’s favour.

And the man who spent two seasons with the Victorian side is not expecting much to change this weekend.

“They [City] are a good team defensively and haven’t conceded many goals,” he said.

“I know Joycey [Head Coach Warren Joyce] works hard on defence as well and that’s why there’s only been one goal in two games between us this season. But we back ourselves week in, week out and if you look at the quality of the players we have around here, it’s actually scary.

“Whoever the coach puts in will be ready for the job.”

The defender, who has started 18 of Glory’s 20 Hyundai A-League games this season, went on to admit that conceding so late in last Sunday’s draw with Western Sydney had stung the playing group.

“The boys were disappointed when we walked back into the changing rooms,” he said, “and it felt like we’d lost, but that shows just how far Perth Glory has come this season.

“The focus is just to keep doing what we’ve been doing. What we’re doing is working. We’ve got the best record defensively for a reason, so we know we back ourselves defensively and with the players we’ve got up front, we’re always going to score goals.

“It’s a great group here and everyone’s together. We’re just going to go out there and treat it like another game and keep going forward.”

Kick off against City on Sunday is at 2pm WST.
