Stat Attack: Victory v Glory in numbers

Thumbnail

1 v 2 are the figures that are dominating the build-up to Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Melbourne Victory.

But with a little help from our friends at Opta, we’ve gone well beyond those ladder positions in search of some other key stats…

Trio Target

Glory have won their last two meetings with Victory and should they secure a third straight win over the navy-and-whites, it will be the first time that the club has done so since August 2009

Totally Six

Diego Castro shoots v Phoenix

Diego Castro has scored six times in his nine appearances at AAMI Park and found the net six times against both Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City

Andy Keogh has also been on the scoresheet six times at AAMI Park

Fast Finishers

Sunday will see the two strongest-finishing teams this season going head-to-head

Glory lead the way having scored 12 times in the last 15 minutes of matches, while Victory have managed ten in the same time period

Cross Kings

Jason Davidson v Phoenix

Jason Davidson has become the first Glory player this term to pass the 50 mark for crosses attempted (51)

Fellow-wing-back Ivan Franjic is closing in on 48, while Chris Ikonomidis is next best on 22

Heads Up

Glory have scored more headed goals this term (7) than any other team in the competition, making up 19% of the club’s total of 36

Victory have claimed five, while Central Coast Mariners have just one to their name

Pass It On

Juande on the ball v Phoenix

With a return of 88.4%, Juande is currently Glory’s most accurate passer, closely followed by midfield partner Neil Kilkenny on 84.9% and Jake Brimmer on 84%

Nick Ansell, meanwhile, leads this category for Victory with 88%

Lucky, we love AAMI

AAMI Park is Glory’s second-most successful away venue after Newcastle’s McDonald Jones Stadium

The men in purple have a 32% win rate there having won eight, drawn eight and lost nine of their 25 visits

Goals Galore

There has only ever been one 0-0 draw between Glory and Victory, back in September 2007

The last six meetings have produced a total of 21 goals and the two sides have bagged 75 between them already this season (Glory 36 and Victory 39)
