PGFC Academy First Team will begin their Football West NPL Night Series campaign on Friday evening when they take on Armadale at Dalmatinac Park (kick off at 6.30pm)

Glory have been drawn in Pool Two alongside Armadale, Cockburn City, Balcatta, Bayswater City and current Night Series title-holders, Floreat Athena.

Pool One, meanwhile, contains league champions Perth SC, ECU Joondalup, Inglewood United, Sorrento, Stirling Lions and newly-promoted Rockingham City.

The Glory youngsters are coming off a successful Foxtel Y-League campaign which saw them go unbeaten in their final three games and Head Coach Richard Garcia is looking for his charges to bring that impressive form into their first-up clash with last season’s State League Cup winners.

“Our young group have grown in the Y-League,” he said, “and we will have to show the same determination against a good Armadale side on Friday.

“They (Armadale) surprised many teams last season, winning the cup and beating some of the best teams in the league, so we know we will need to be switched on if we are to make a positive start to the competition.”

“It’s been a season of growth in our Y-League campaign and after a stuttering start, we come home well and played some good football and produced some good performances.

“We need to build on this for our Football West NPL season, and the players and I are looking forward to the challenge.”
