Foxe hasn-t played yet this season and it was initially hoped that he-d be ready to return this weekend however medical staff have erred on the side caution and given the defender another month to get back to full fitness.
“We-re going to give Hayden a few extra weeks to make sure that when he comes back he-s going to be fit and raring to go,” Coach Dave Mitchell said.
The club has turned to standout local defender Jeff Bright as cover during Foxe-s absence and the 23 year old is in contention to line-up against Queensland on Sunday at Members Equity Stadium.
“Jeff has bundles of energy, is a good crosser of the ball, likes to get forward and works hard,” said Mitchell.
Bright, who currently plays for Mandurah City in the Football West State League, is no stranger to Mitchell who identified him five years ago as youngster with plenty of potential when working as a scout for Dutch giants Feyenoord.
“I-m glad to bring him into the mix and he might get an opportunity this week. If he does I don-t think he-ll let us down,” Mitchell said.
