Perth Glory has retained the services of talented player Naum Sekulovski for the next two seasons following a standout campaign in which he established himself as the club-s first choice left-back.
Sekulovski, who joined Glory for their first Hyundai A-League season, has played a variety of positions for the club but was handed the challenge of left stopper last season and flourished in the role.
“Last season was a real positive for me, I enjoyed playing at left-back and think it-s a position that I can make my own and hopefully that will also assist the team to reach the finals next season,” said Sekulovski.
“Being able to play in a position consistently was beneficial for me and I always got the backing of Mitch (Coach Dave Mitchell) and the other coaches which helped the transition to left-back,” Sekulovski added.
Head Coach Dave Mitchell believes Sekulovski-s combination of skill, stamina and pace will makes him an ideal candidate for a key position in the back four.
“Naum has been shipped all over the place in the past but I-ve said to him that I want him in the left back position and we-ll work with him over the pre-season to ensure he continues to develop into that important role for the club,” Mitchell said.
“He showed some excellent signs last season and will only get better with the more time he spends playing there.
“Naum is passionate about the club and gives his all at training and in games and I-m pleased that he-ll be around for the next couple of seasons,” added Mitchell.
The 26 year old has pulled on the boots for Perth in 61 Hyundai A-League matches with only Jamie Harnwell (77) and Jamie Coyne (73) playing more games in Glory colours than Sekulovski in the past four seasons.
“There is so much potential here and I feel we-re building something really strong at the club and wanted to stay around and be part of that.
“Next season is a big one for the club and for me and I-m confident I can make a positive contribution and get Perth Glory back to the top of the league,” Sekulovski said.
