Perth Youth set for Reds

Perth Glory-s Youth team has the opportunity to extend their winning streak to three matches when they tackle Adelaide United in a curtain raiser at ME Bank Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Perth has been able to find form and take maximum points from their past two outings, including a dramatic late winner last weekend at home, however the club continues to be severely hamstrung by injury.

Half of Gareth Naven-s squad is currently unavailable with seven players out through injury while goal keeper Nick Feely is undertaking his school exams.

The Glory has called upon a number of replacement players already this season and the match against the Reds will be no different.

“To be honest we haven-t had a chance to gel together as yet, we-re at the far end of that scale,” said Coach Gareth Naven.

“I-d like to see us become a bit tighter and cohesive. We-re working to get the boys who have come into the squad up to speed as quickly as possible.”

Despite the disjointed start to the season the relationship between Ludovic Boi and Million Butshiire in attack has blossomed. Both registered on the scoresheet last weekend and have proved to be a danger for opposition defences in all of their outings.

The crafty forwards will again need to be on top of their game against a well drilled Adelaide side but Naven has been happy with the way his players have responded to each challenge presented to them.

“Last week we needed to lift and gave the lads a challenge at half time. They responded and that was important for me to see as a coach. It shows they-re able to learn and be disciplined in trying to put something in place and we-ll again look to raise our game against Adelaide,” said Naven.
