Perth Glory Youth are confident of extending their winning run to three matches by toppling Brisbane Roar Youth at Clipsal Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The young Glory side will kick off a double delight with Perth-s Westfield W-League girls playing their final match of the 2009 season immediately following the National Youth League game.
Perth has found their rhythm in recent weeks, sinking Sydney FC at home and taking all three points against the Mariners Youth side in Gosford last weekend.
Perth striker Mario Marcinko says the addition of some experienced senior players has seen good results but more importantly shown the level needed for the young players to take the next step in their football careers.
“When guys like Jamie Harnwell and Eugene Dadi come into the team they are always willing to share their experiences with the young lads,” Marcinko said.
“I like playing alongside them because you can see what top level players do; watch their movement off the ball and how they carry themselves on and off the pitch as well.
“It is good experience for all of us and we-re using it to get better and better,” said Marcinko.
After an injury-riddled start to the season Perth have most of their squad available again and Marcinko, who also missed several matches, said they-re now becoming a more cohesive unit.
“I was out for a few weeks with injury but have been back in training for a while now and I-m feeling great,” Marcinko said.
“Just about all the boys are back from injury now so we-ve been able to gel together as a team and put in some good performances.”
One of Brisbane-s two wins this season came against Perth in Queensland and Marcinko said the West Aussies are determined to reverse that result come Saturday.
“We-ve been working really hard since the start of the season and now we-re starting to get the results on the table,” Marcinko said.
“We-ve beaten Central Coast and Sydney who are some of the top teams in the league so we-ve got confidence and we-ll definitely be out to notch three in a row this week.”
