The inaugural Perth Glory super clinic kicked off in spectacular fashion on Monday night as part of the ‘Glory in the community’ programs sponsored by Chicken Treat.

Perth Glory players and coaching staff spent the afternoon at Len Shearer-s Reserve to lend some coaching advice to over 700 children and their parents who attended what was an exciting and fun evening for everyone.
The event marked the beginning of Perth Glory and Chicken Treat-s community partnership and displayed both organisations- ongoing commitment to engage and provide quality football service to the local community.
Hundreds of young footballers from Melville City, South Perth United and East Fremantle Tricolore were treated to an exclusive opportunity to meet their Perth Glory heroes and learn a few tricks from those playing at the elite level.
Perth Glory coaches Dave Mitchell, Ian Ferguson and Kenny Lowe were also at the super clinic and spent the afternoon taking several coaching sessions and kicking the ball around with the kids.
“The community aspect of a Hyundai A-League club is just as important as the football.
“It-s great to get out here and meet some enthusiastic young footballers and inspire them to believe that they can one day play at the top level.
“There was a phenomenal response from all the junior clubs that came this afternoon and it-s a credit to everyone who was involved in running the event,” Mitchell said.
Perth Glory custodian Tando Velaphi proved why he is the club-s number one ‘keeper as he took to the giant inflatable goal and made some spectacular saves. Velaphi-s charges were given the rare chance to have a question and answer session with him, as they got some insight into becoming a professional footballer.
Perth Glory women-s players were there to run some drills and along with the senior men-s team, signed posters and other merchandise for hundreds of participants.
Spike the Glory kid and the Chicken Treat Chook had loads of giveaways, as did the 96fm thunders who were handing out Harvey Fresh milk and juices and other fantastic Perth Glory prizes.
Chicken Treat-s ball juggling competition was a hit with kids and four winners were chosen to be the next player mascots for Glory-s upcoming home matches. There was also a skills competition which many children entered with the hope of winning tickets to the next Perth Glory home game.
Several more super clinics will be held throughout the season involving other junior football clubs from different suburbs in the metropolitan area.
