Record-breaker Taggart signs contract extension with hometown club

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that club skipper Adam Taggart has signed a one-year contract extension.

The 32-year-old former Perth RedStar junior became the club’s all-time record A-League goalscorer last season as he took his tally in purple to 61 and also claimed a share of the Bobby Despotovski Golden Boot Award for the fourth successive year.

Having racked up 133 ALM games for Glory, he now sits sixth on the club’s all-time record A-League appearances list and is a two-time Most Glorious Player Award winner.

Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis believes that the man with 22 Socceroos caps to his name will be a key figure once again in the upcoming season.

“Taggs has already firmly established himself as a true Glory great,” he said.

“A natural finisher who can score all kinds of goals, he is a constant threat in the final third and his career record of a goal basically every other game places him right up there with the very best.

“We know how much Perth Glory means to Taggs, how he went from supporting the club as a boy to becoming its captain and record A-League scorer and we know how desperate he is to see it achieve the ultimate success.

“It’s great to have him on board again for what is a very exciting season ahead.”

Further squad announcements will be made shortly.
