Glory teams up with Sparks of the Future Program

A group of special guests joined us for a behind-the-scenes, all-access tour at HBF Park ahead of last weekend’s memorable Isuzu UTE A-League victory over Macarthur FC.

Passionate Glory supporters Sean and his family toured the media area and changing rooms, before taking to the hallowed turf and greeting the players as they headed out for their pre-match warm-up.

Sean is part of the Sparks of the Future Program, an initiative designed by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM Governor of Western Australia and his wife Darrilyn Dawson.

Within the program, which is now in its fourth year, the students undertake events and activities to help their development as young leaders and are provided with opportunities and experiences that may not otherwise be available to them.

The Year 6 students, drawn from Clarkson Primary School, Dianella Primary College and Merriwa Primary School, are provided with the opportunity to take part in official Vice Regal events including Australian Honours Investiture Ceremonies, Government House Open Days, House Tours and Receptions.

Working with Government House staff, they also receive specialist training in a number of areas to help build confidence and expand skills, such as public speaking, interviewing skills and MC of events.

External engagements and visits also make up a large part of the program where participating students are exposed to a wide ranges of interest areas and behind-the-scenes experiences provided by Government House through collaborations with patronages, industry and academia.

As a super-keen footballer who plays for Balga Soccer Club and regularly attends Glory games with his family, Sean was excited to get the full player experience at HBF Park and it was a pleasure for the club to host him and his family.

We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Sparks of the Future Program.
