ALM Match Wrap: Bulls beaten as superb Glory clinch back-to-back away wins

Adam Griffiths’ side created the better chances throughout and were finally rewarded for their endeavours shortly after the hour-mark when a Tom Lawrence-inspired breakaway culminated in Pennington slotting home his second goal in as many games.

And any notion of a potentially tense finale was dispelled when Shamoon rifled home from the edge of the box two minutes from time to lock in Glory’s first ever away win over the Bulls.

Roared on by a vocal band of travelling fans, the visitors looked purposeful right from the outset and almost took the lead nine minutes in when Lawrence powered his way into the box and unleashed a shot which beat home ‘keeper Filip Kurto, only to strike the foot of the post and rebound away.

Lawrence duly fired over and Jaiden Kucharski also went close as the visitors continued to threaten throughout the opening period, with Macarthur restricted to the occasional half-chance on the break.

Shortly before the interval, Kurto did well to keep out a Lawrence free-kick, but he was powerless to prevent Pennington from breaking the deadlock midway through the second half.

The imperious Lawrence was the architect, showcasing a delightful touch to beat Sime Grzan on halfway before racing into Macarthur territory and then unselfishly shifting the ball on to Pennington who calmly converted.

The anticipated reaction from the Bulls never materialised as Glory continued to impose themselves in every department and the three points were eventually sealed by Shamoon.

The former Western United defender had posed a major attacking threat all afternoon and capped off a fine personal display by cutting in from the left and hammering a low shot past Kurto to register his first goal for the club.
