Majekodunmi heading to Korea with Olyroos

Glory defender Kaelan Majekodunmi has been included in the Australia U23s squad for a two-game friendly series against Korea Republic during next month’s FIFA Men’s International Window.

The fixtures have been organised to assist in the team’s preparations for the AFC U23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers which will begin in September.

Australia’s group opponents will be confirmed at next week’s official draw and Head Coach Tony Vidmar believes that the games against Korea will prove invaluable ahead of the qualifying campaign getting underway.

“We’ve been able to secure two games against a very strong nation,” he said.

“This will not only be a great development opportunity for these players but a chance to show us their individual qualities.

“We had some strong results in the March window which will be important to build on as we look to integrate new players into the environment.

“This will be our final activity before our Qualifiers in September, so it’s important we plan, prepare and play well ahead of what will be an important first step for this group on the road to the U23 Asian Cup.”

21-year-old Majekodunmi started each of Glory’s final three A-League games of the season, along with the Australia Cup PlayOff victory over Central Coast Mariners in Darwin.

Since debuting for his hometown club in January 2024, he has featured on 15 occasions in the A-League and scored two goals.

In other international news, PGFC Academy goalkeeper Aaron Black has been selected named in the Joeys (U17s) squad for the Hohhot U16 Tournament which will be held in China from 26 May – 2 June.

The Morley Windmills junior is in line to face to face Vietnam, China and Saudi Arabia in the round-robin tournament which will serve as preparation for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026 Qualifiers scheduled for November 2025.
