The three senior PGFC Academy teams collected seven points from Saturday’s NPL WA trip to Western Knights, with the Under-20s and Under-18s both recording victories and the First Team securing a 2-2 draw.
In wet and windy conditions, the First Team made the best possible start to their game as Giovanni De Abreu’s stunning strike gave them the lead with just seven minutes on the clock.
There was no further scoring during the opening period, but there was plenty of drama immediately after the break as the Knights scored twice in the space of just six minutes.
Owen Goodliffe claimed the first, converting from the spot after Kristian Santich had been brought down in the box and Jesse Lazzaro then clipped home at the near post to make it 2-1.
Glory retained their composure, however and grabbed the equaliser they deserved 11 minutes from time when Sam Reilly was unable to keep out Khoa Ngo’s left-footed effort from the edge of the box.
Earlier in the day, the Under-18s showed great resolve to come back an early 2-0 deficit and run out 4-3 winners.
Cristiano Farfan helped himself to two of the goals, with TadiswaShaun Mutyavaviri (pen) and Tyler Nyabinde completing the scoring.
Another player at the double on Saturday was Noah Ieraci whose brace helped the Under-20s ease to a comprehensive 6-0 victory.
Louis Sollitt, Alfie Knight and Chulu Johnson also found the net, but the goal of the day came from Ruben Argent who made it 5-0 with a spectacular bicycle kick.
All three teams will be on the road again this coming Saturday (31st August) when they take on Perth SC, with the games taking place at Floreat Athena’s E&D Litis Stadium as Dorrien Gardens is unavailable.
The 18s will get the action underway at 11am, followed by the 20s at 1pm and the First Team at 3pm.
Do get along and support the lads if you can!
