Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that attacking duo Kelli Brown and Tanika Lala have joined the club’s A-League Women’s squad for the 2024/25 season.
23-year-old Brown arrives following another impressive season in the NPLW NSW during which she has scored 11 goals in 14 games for league leaders, Macarthur Rams.
The New Zealand-born forward previously spent two seasons with Wellington Phoenix and was a key member of the NZ side which claimed third place at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
Having risen to prominence with Northern Rovers FC in Auckland, she crossed the Tasman to join Macarthur Rams in 2023 and bagged a remarkable 23 goals during her debut NPLW NSW season.
Lala, meanwhile, made her ALW bow for Glory last term and opened her goalscoring account in just her second appearance with a clinical finish against Melbourne City at Macedonia Park.
Originally from Kalgoorlie, the 20-year-old found the net on 12 occasions for the Hyundai NTC during the 2023 NPLW WA season and has followed that by scoring 19 times to date for Fremantle City in this year’s competition.
Glory Head Coach Stephen Peters believes that the duo have the potential to trouble any defence in the ALW competition.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to work closely with Kelli at Macarthur,” he said, “and am therefore aware of the blend of power and pace she brings to the table.
“She has a great pedigree having always been involved in an elite environment and in recent years, has added a strong level of tactical awareness to her natural finishing ability.
“Tanika is another exciting and gifted forward who took the step up from NPL to ALW very much in her stride last season and wasted no time whatsoever in grabbing her first senior goal.
“It is fantastic to see a player from country WA seizing the opportunity she’s been given and we look forward to helping her continue her upwards career trajectory in the coming season.”
Further signing announcements will be made shortly.
