The PGFC Academy First Team endured another difficult afternoon in the NPL WA on Saturday as they were defeated 6-1 by Bayswater City at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
After a hard-fought opening 30 minutes, the visitors hit the front when Cameron Teece latched onto a loose ball close to the penalty spot and hooked a volley into the top corner.
Glory’s response was almost instant, Santiago Flores turning neatly on the edge of the box and firing a low shot past Lewis Italiano.
Unfortunately for the youngsters, three goals from City in the final five minutes of the opening period duly swung the momentum firmly back in their favour.
Chris Jackson bagged two of them, the first a close-range finish and the second an audacious chip from 20m out, before Luke Palmateer headed in his side’s fourth.
Jackson went on to secure his hat-trick midway through the second half and Teece completed the scoring by grabbing his second and Bayswater’s sixth when he headed home a Jason Mirco corner.
Call-ups to the WA State Team meant that the Under-18s and Under-20s did not have any fixtures once again, but they will return to NPL WA action this Saturday (27th July) when Fremantle City will provide the opposition at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
The 18s get things underway at 10.30am, followed by the 20s at 12.30pm and then the First Team at 3pm.
A date has also been set for the 18s and 20s to play their catch-up games against Olympic Kingsway, with those fixtures now scheduled to take place at the Sam Kerr Football Centre on Tuesday 30 July (6.00pm for the 18s and 8.00pm for the 20s).
Do get along and support the lads if you can.
