Midfielder Gomulka heads west on two-year deal

Perth Glory is delighted to confirm that midfielder Taras Gomulka has signed a two-year deal with the club.

The 22-year-old, who was a part of the Melbourne City squad which claimed the Championship/Premiership double in 2021, has made more than 70 Isuzu UTE A-League appearances and represented Australia at Under-23 level.

21 of those appearances came for Brisbane Roar last season and after just over a year with the Queenslanders, he is now looking forward to being part of an exciting, new-look Glory squad.

“I’m buzzing to be joining this special club,” he said.

“I can’t wait to get started and meet all the boys and staff.

“With the new ownership coming in, it’s a great and exciting time to be a part of it and I want to try and help the team bring success to the club.”

Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis, meanwhile, feels that the arrival of Gomulka significantly strengthens the club’s engine-room options.

“Taras is another great signing for us,” he said.

“He’s technically a very good player and I feel he’s a bit underrated and understated.

“He’s got good balance, uses the ball well and is a box-to-box player who I feel will really complement the other midfielders that we now have at the club.”

Gomulka began his career with his hometown club, Adelaide United, debuting against Brisbane Roar in 2020 before almost immediately completing a switch to Melbourne City.

During his first season with City, the club claimed the Championship/Premiership double and the following year, he featured on 20 occasions.

Having by now made his Australia Under-23 debut, the tenacious midfielder moved on to Brisbane Roar midway through the 2022/23 campaign and duly established himself as a first-team regular for the men in orange.

Glory’s latest new recruit featured for Roar in last year’s Australia Cup Final against Sydney FC and in total, racked up 38 league and Cup appearances during his time with the club.
