A message from our CEO, Anthony Radich…

“In light of the statement recently issued by VenuesWest with regard to delays to the upgrade of HBF Park, I wanted to reach out as a priority to our loyal Members to clarify the club’s position.

First and foremost, as a major and long-term tenant at HBF Park we are extremely frustrated and disappointed that we have been displaced from our home and that our season has been so severely compromised.

Initially being forced to play four games away from HBF Park was a heavy impost coming off the back of two COVID-ravaged seasons when our Members were among the most badly affected across any sporting code in the country.

To now learn that, through absolutely no fault of our own, we will be forced to play a number of additional games at an alternative venue is bitterly disappointing at every conceivable level.

We do, of course, appreciate the importance of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the long-term benefits that the upgrade of HBF Park will provide for the club and for the sport in this State, but this does not compensate for the severe damage caused to our brand and the distress suffered by our Members.

We are currently in constant dialogue with both VenuesWest and Australian Professional Leagues (APL) to better understand the exact implications of the delay to HBF Park’s readiness and I will be meeting with the WA Minister for Culture and the Arts; Sport and Recreation, along with senior representatives from APL, next week. We have made it clear to government that a mutually acceptable solution must be found as quickly as possible to minimise the inconvenience caused to our Members.

Once we have more clarity around this issue, we will communicate that information with you as soon as possible and in the meantime, I would like to thank you for your support, patience and understanding.

While these issues have been caused by factors completely beyond the club’s control, rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to secure the best possible outcome for our Members.”
